The movement is still active today. Growing out of such a stream, the Hymn Society in Japan was founded in 2001, with the aim of \u201cfostering ecumenical studies, sharing fruits both domestically and internationally, and promoting exchanges for further development of hymnody in Japan\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Our society hosts an annual conference and regional seminars and workshops where participants have opportunities to learn from international speakers and also from other members who present reports. The subjects cover a broad range of areas that include academic research from musical, literary and theological perspectives, hymn writing, and performance. We also publish annals and hymnals.<\/p>\n<p>For those who seek for excellence in hymn-singing, it is valuable to exchange information and ideas ecumenically. My hope is that our activities spread widely and the society be the place not only to deepen scholarship but also to share joy of praising God.
